The 16th season of Music in Fountain Park by the fountain in Historic Downtown Chestertown. Bring a blanket or chair. 7-8:30pm, except July 3, 2010 when the concert starts early at 6:30pm and ends at 8pm in order to give people time to get to local fireworks displays. Concerts every other Saturday night, June through second weekend in September. Remaining Dates: July 17, & 31, Aug 14, 28, and Sept. 11. These free programs are sponsored by the Town of Chestertown with support from The Kent County Arts Council and Community Contributors. The new Washington College Riverfront Concert Series, developed in partnership with the Annapolis Maritime Museum Summer Concert Series, kicks off on Tuesday, July 27 with a performance by singer, songwriter, and storyteller Bob Zentz, whose many instruments include the concertina, hurdy gurdy, and autoharp. Zentz has been a featured artist at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, a guest on the popular public radio program, 'A Prairie Home Companion', and a crew member and performer aboard Pete Seeger's Hudson River sloop Clearwater. His five albums span the genres of folk, traditional, Celtic, and maritime music, and his Chesapeake Bay songs, including 'This Old Bay' and 'The Last Skipjack,' have become classics around the region.
Riverfront Concert Series events begin at 6:30pm. on the back lawn of Washington College's circa-1746 riverfront Custom House, located at the corner of Water and High Streets in downtown Chestertown. Drinks and light refreshments will be provided; attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets or lawn chairs. Admission is free. In case of inclement weather, concerts will take place in Decker Theater, Gibson Center for the Arts, Washington College. AN ANNAPOLIS MARITIME MUSEUM SUMMER CONCERT SERIES EVENT.
