About Us:The Chestertown Arts League is both steeped in tradition as well as progressive in its offerings. Shortly after WWII, in 1946, The Artist’s Professional League of New York City requested its Board Member, Gretchen Wood Call, establish a chapter on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Thus, the Arts League was born with Mrs. Call as its first President. In 1967 the Arts League was incorporated as a non-profit organization dedicated to offering classes, promoting the appreciation of art, and working with other organizations with similar goals. A general meeting of the Chestertown Arts League takes place every third Monday of each month. The Arts League Gallery is open every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and some Sundays from 10:00 to 4:00. Goals and objectivesThe Chestertown Arts League is focused on education in the arts and collaboration among artists. To accomplish these goals, we will conduct workshops and classes to spread knowledge of the arts, to foster an appreciation of the arts, and to encourage activity in the arts within our community. We will also support our membership with our various shows and activities. |
