Mayor's Message
To Our
Welcome Visitor:
If you have never visited Chestertown, I hope you will enjoy a
rare and pleasant experience. This unique town of 4746 is steeped
in Colonial and Victorian influence, and you will notice that
it is far from being a museum piece. Chestertown is a busy county
seat, as well as the home of Washington College which provides
us with a great deal of cultural enrichment.
The
National Trust for Historic Peservation has named Chestertown one
of the top ten historic towns in the United States. As the brochure
for the White Swan Tavern so elegantly states: "Chestertown is
not a town that history forgot, rather, it is a town that history
gratefully remembers."
We welcome you and hope to see you often.
