ENERGY CONSERVATION

~ 73-1. Energy conservation measures established.
This chapter shall establish the BOCA Basic Energy Conservation Code/1978 as an ordinance of the Town of Chestertown.
~ 73-2. Policy statement.
It is the policy of the Mayor and Council of Chestertown that energy saving and conservation measures are in the public interest of the citizens of the United States of America.
~ 73-3. Adoption of standards by reference. [Amended 5-1-1987 by Ord. No. 1-87]
Pursuant to ~~ C2-8A and B(49) and C4-5 of the Municipal Corporation Charter for Chestertown, Maryland, there is hereby adopted as the Energy Code for the Town of Chestertown that volume known as the "BOCA Basic/National Energy Conservation Code, 1987 Edition" and all subsequent additions, supplements and amendments, published by the Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc. This code is hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein, and from the date on which this chapter shall take effect, the provisions thereof shall be controlling in the construction of all buildings and other structures within the corporate limits of the town.
~ 73-4. Enforcement official designated; violations and penalties. [Amended 5-18-1987 by Ord. No. 1-87]
It is further a provision of this chapter that the enforcement and administration of this chapter shall be added to the duties of the Town Building Official and that penalties arising under the enforcement of this chapter shall be the same as those in Chapter 57, ~ 57-5, of the Code of the Town of Chestertown, which section describes penalties for violation of the Basic Building Code.
